The Butter Yellow Dress That Survived My Summer Obsession

Let’s be honest: I was chasing a trend.

Butter yellow had me completely convinced last summer. It was everywhere – on my feed, in reels, in European wedding photos – and I knew that if I was going to a summer wedding, this was the color. No negotiations.

The only problem? Finding a dress that was trendy and actually good. I wanted something flowy, soft, and Indian-looking, but I was absolutely not willing to compromise on fabric, structure, or how it moves. I wanted the scarf detail (very summer 2025), but I didn’t want it to feel flimsy or costume-y.

Enter: the reel.

I came across a video from a brand called Matters, a boutique based in Tbilisi, and the moment I saw the dress move, I stopped scrolling. The model was dancing, and the fabric followed every movement perfectly. It wasn’t stiff, it wasn’t too soft – it just worked. I knew immediately: I want this exact one.

The dress came in a few colors, but butter yellow felt like the only correct option. Trendy? Yes. Worth it? Also yes.

When the dress arrived, I was so excited – until I realized the corset was a bit big. Nothing dramatic, but enough to annoy me. So I did the obvious thing and took it to my tailor. A small adjustment later, it fit perfectly and suddenly felt like it was made for me.

On the day of the wedding, I booked a makeup and hair stylist and kept things simple. Soft waves, nothing too polished, just enough to match the flow of the dress and the whole European summer mood I had in my head.

At the event, I took a lot of photos – and I actually loved them. I asked my cousin to bring his Canon G7 (blogger cameras always understand the assignment), and he captured some really good moments. The dress looked amazing in motion, the color popped at night, and I felt both trendy and comfortable, which doesn’t always happen at the same time.

And of course, at some point, I ended up holding Rom, my nephew. I take advantage of every opportunity to take pictures with him – wedding, event, random family gathering, doesn’t matter. He’s always part of the story, and honestly, those photos are some of my favorites from the night.

So yes, I chased a trend. But I also found a dress that moved beautifully, felt good to wear, photographed well, and survived a full wedding night – which, in my book, makes it a win.
