On the morning of a sunny Friday, my sister and I attended our best friend Katerina’s wedding celebration. Honestly, when I got the invite, I was surprised and delighted at the same time. As my best friend can be unpredictable, traveling around the world and catching flights without any notice, I knew there would be a day when she would surprise me yet again. It’s, after all, part of her charm. Having no idea what to expect from her. And so, the time has come for her to get married and I joined my sister and her in Jerusalem for her unique small wedding celebration.
Preparing for the big day, my sister and I decided to gift her presents around the blessings every bride should have on her wedding day. “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe.”
with the help of Noa embroidery, as the first “old” thing, we gifted her an embroidered piece dedicated to that sentence. With embroidery being an old-world craft, we thought it would make the perfect first gift to accompany the rest. We then decided to gift her a purse made of Japanese kimono as the “something new”, my sis’ wedding veil as the “something borrowed” and a Swarovski bracelet gemmed with a blue stone as the “something blue”. We also felt that we want to buy her a bride flowers bouquet and so we bought the perfect bouquet made of pink soft flowers to compliment her bridal look.
For the occasion, I decided to wear a backless print long dress with ruffle detailing. I felt it was the perfect dress for a sunny afternoon. When we arrived to my bestie’s house, a table filled with Chinese fortune cookies, candies and note blessings waited for us at the entrance.
Two notes of blessings were given to me along with a small ring that said “you’re next!”. I looked at my bestie as she gave it to me, brushing off my embarrassment with a smile. My eyes were drawn to the pink decorations, the cute gift bags, and the flowers as we approached the main table. It looked exactly as I imagined. Full with style and elegance.
The minute we sat down I grabbed the cute camera that was there and started to take pictures. My bestie looked amazing with her white long gown and when we gave her her flowers she looked like the perfect bride. She was glowing and I couldn’t be more happy.
Then we all played some games, eat and drink and later my sister and I decided to take some pictures with the pastoral views we encountered around the house.
When that party came to an end, the bride told all of us her predictions for the future and I just loved what she told me. I’ll be living the life I want in London, feeling inspired each and every day, finding my person and experiencing a relationship that is filled with love, compassion, care and trust.
Before we left, she gave me a bouquet of flowers wishing me luck in finding my soulmate. After witnessing all this love around me, I smiled knowing that maybe now is the perfect time for me to discover it as well.
