On my first week in London as a journalism intern, I attended the biggest event of the year.
A fantastic event was organized by my company, PIE News, called PIEoneers 2022 and I have been asked to attend!
Having never attended such an event, I was told the dress code was black tie. And do, in preparation for my experience in London, I packed a gorgeous yellow dress from House of CB.
However, it all started to spiral out of control when, unfortunately, her majesty the Queen passed away..
The news came the night before the big event, an event that was planed to be at Guildhall. Since it was an event that was planed a year in advance, we decided to continue with our plans as usual.
Royalty and state visitors have entertained at Guildhall Great Hall throughout the centuries. It is the third largest civic hall in England. Many famous state trials have taken place there, including that of Lady Jane Grey in 1553.
Guildhall continues to play a significant role in the City even today. This is where state banquets and civic meetings are held. It’s also where the Court of Common Council meets and where the Honorary Freedom of the City ceremony is held.
As such, we couldn’t host the event at Guildhall and eventually my company changed the venue to the “Hilton” hotel.
I was concerned about finding the perfect dress since we were instructed to wear black that day. My next step was to go straight to House of CB’s flagship store in Westfield Stratford City to find the dress I needed.
Almost tempted by the bright colors, I picked everything black and went to the fitting rooms.
I fell in love with the first dress that I tried on. It was elegant and chic, exactly how I wanted to look.
I just needed to find the perfect statement piece that will go with that dress, since after all, no one really said anything about the bags we carry with us.
Inside the Westfield mall I found the brand “DUNE” and this is where I discovered an amazing collection of bags and heels. Loaded up with new purchases, I went to “TONY&GUY” for my hair. And let me tell you this, I was blown away by the results! The lady knew exactly what I was asking for and I also got a nice head massage at the process!
The event ended up being amazing and everything just looked beautiful! I got to meet everyone at my company, even those who work mainly from home and it was such an honor attending this kins of event.
