Vacation on Time

Well, let’s start by saying that I can’t remember the last time I’ve been on a true vacation. A real long vacation that includes 24-7 service, a king-size bed, soft sheets, and lots of sunscreens. However, I must tell you, this is not the case either.

Before you’re starting to get disappointed, I went for a vacation in the most unexpected place and it was quite fun. Read on.

Feeling the urge to escape the daily stress, my large family (and when I say “large”, I mean it, as it consists of 30 members) decided to have a vacation in Israel. Since it was not allowed (and still is) to leave the country until things are settled down with the Covid outbreak and all, we planned a trip up north to our very little homeland.

A few kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border, you will find a lively, full of greens little city called Ma’alot Tarshiha. it has been quite some time since I’ve traveled north and this place just seemed right at the time. However, I must confess, I wasn’t making the decision to travel there, since the real decision-makers in the family are my aunts. Let me tell you that it was quite hard to let go and let others plan the vacation, but for a freak control like me, it was quite refreshing.

Getting back to the story, my aunt booked for us a large villa, equipped with all the necessary things we might need, and we all packed our belongings with excitement. The villa seemed to be located on a top of a mountain, which proved to be right, and before I even realized it, the view took my breath away.

Surrounded by huge mountains, let me reassure you, the tranquility takes you by a storm. As taken out from a fairy tale, a huge castle has been waiting for us on a flowery hill located a 5-hours drive away from us.

As with any other vacation, I planned my looks beforehand, and choose to wear a sunny ruffle dress to brighten my mood in the travel. For the rest of the days (3 in number) I needed to choose only the musts since my mother insisted to travel lightly. I packed one colorful skirt, a couple of tank tops, some festive sets of clothing for Friday night, several bikinis, and the confidence I’d need later on to ask my sisters for their clothes (which I knew would come eventually).

Reaching there, I found a large kitchen, open pool, game room, Karaoke machine, and one pampering jacuzzi. From that moment on, the days were full of laughter and the nights swept by loud music and dancing.

On the first morning in the villa, we decided to take a stroll to find the nearer famous little fountain called Nachal Kziv. After a long session of complaints (from my side) we arrived at our destination, and it was spectacular. the fountain was hidden behind several trees and was charming in its simplicity. We took thousands of pictures as if we climbed Mount Everest (It surely felt like it) and left to wake the others. For the Hike, I decided to wear black shorts, a white tank top, pair of comfy sneakers, and a red round brimless hat I took from one of my sisters.

On Friday night, We celebrated and welcomed the Shabbat with a large Indian meal cooked by my amazing Grandmother and aunts. We even wore Indian traditional clothes (Saree) and danced. After a long day in the sun tanning and drinking, I chose to wear a matching sky blue set of tank top and miniskirt. The houses near our vila were also beautiful and were filled with colorful arches of flowers and we decided to take a late-night stroll.

The next day, my sisters and I decided to have a little adventure and drove ATVs in Large dunes of sand along the beautiful coast of the city. As a first-timer, it was quite scary but an adventure it surely was.

The final conclusion must be that thanks to unexpected beauties, delicious food, and joyful evenings It was a vacation to remember.
